Philip’s Selfie with Senior Evelyn Wagnon
Evelyne and her husband migrated to Australia from France in 1967. She is a former teacher and programmer, and her husband was a structural draftsman who collaborated with architects and engineers to convert designs into technical plans of The Crocodile Hotel in Jabiru Northern territory.
I met Evelyne when she decided attending my hydrotherapy session. She wants to improve her overall function as she is eager and motivated to live independently. She enjoys bush walking and writing; she has written a book called “Your Guide to Darwin and Top End” and won 2 awards one of which was the NT Brolga Award for tourism excellence in 1989.
I found myself fortunate to meet Evelyne because of her resilience and positive outlook in life. During cyclone Tracy she lost everything that her husband had built. Instead of giving up and leaving the city, they stayed in Darwin and have turned bad things into good things. With their resilience they were able to restart a new life in Darwin.
I am extremely motivated to help more seniors through exercises so that they can maintain their mobility and flexibility while also improving their overall health. So, they can enjoy life to the fullest.
